Sometimes I hesitate to post about something unless I have a beautiful picture to accompany it. But it struck me tonight that so many things can never be captured through my camera's lens, and while I love the view it offers me on my world, it is a limited one.
Some of the most sacred things in my life happen outside the purview of the camera:
- the intensity of the stars strewn across the sky over my head as I stand outside my house in the profound darkness;
- the feeling of my daughter's body shivering in my arms with cold and fear as we stand on our porch, listening to coyotes howling, calling and barking to each other from the other side of our barn;
- the sound that a piece of wood makes when it hits the wheelbarrow when Dave is gone for days on end, and I am in charge of keeping the house warm, and the animals fed, and our daughter cared for, and somehow I have the strength to do what needs to be done and even get to work kind of on time.
Sometimes my heart feels large enough to hold all of these things, and more...
What is your heart holding today?
*This is an old picture, but I don't think it had made it onto the blog yet, and it's a favorite of mine.
