It's hard to convey with a camera how beautiful everything is right now. We are in the midst of a cold snap with temperatures in the single digits. We got yet more snow over the weekend, and every tree on the mountain above our town is absolutely covered. Papa D remarked that he feels like we live in Buffalo or Minnesota or something, with all the snow we're getting. It's as though Old Man Winter is making up for a decade of disappointing winters. I'll have to take some pictures of the massive snow piles that dot the village, towering precariously over cars .
On another note, Little C received this beautiful doll from Papa D's mom for Christmas. A handmade doll is truly a treasure, and well worth the amount of work for the sense of life that is conveyed. A doll of natural fibers is simply a different being than the traditional hard plastic dolls, and Little C has taken to this new addition to our family with delight. She recently named her "Baby Jojo," after her pet- name for a certain in-utero baby (Ahem... And no, I don't mean I'm pregnant!) Anyway, Papa D's mom made the doll a cute dress, but when we had her outside the other day, Little C was concerned that she was cold, so I said I'd make her some pants and a fleece. I tried my best, but I've been informed that now she looks like a pop sensation, not exactly the look I was going for, as you might have guessed! Next time I'll make the pants wider! So much for doing it free hand!
